Just last week I posted on social media and shouted out to my mailing list with a request for suggestions of potential tour stops on my way back from Nashville to Washington this August to lovely responses and encouragement. In just a few days I realized that idea just wasn't going to work out.
I'm headed to Nashville in August to attend a 5-day songwriting retreat that I have been thinking about attending for years now. It's a workshop that is hosted by Berklee Professor and Professional Songwriter Andrea Stolpe. I never took classes with her while at Berklee (though I may have taken an online course of hers at one point?) but read one of her books a long time ago called ‘Popular Lyric Writing’ (which I just had to make sure I got the title accurate by going over to look at my bookshelf - I didn't…had to correct!). Last summer I took her 30-day songwriting course and it was such a great experience. Andrea's approach to instructing songwriting is so even-keel, open, accepting, and knowledgeable. I appreciate it so much and am so excited to be immersed in the experience this August.
Originally, I had thought it was the perfect opportunity to tack on a tour, see new sights, and make a road trip out of it. Other plans were in the works without my knowing though! I have two performances lined up as sort of bookends to the trip and both are in Seattle. No time for a long drive to and fro. Not in August anyway.
This doesn't mean it will never happen though! I am considering late September/early October for a tour to share the songs from Standing Steady with an audience outside Washington State. Perhaps a loop around the Northwest, a trip down the coast to California, or a longer trip across the country. Ideas and plans are forming and if anyone reading this far has suggestions, would like to host a house concert, or knows of the perfect pairing for me to open for, I'm all ears!
Thanks for the support!
