Inspired by the collaboration of poetry and music in my most recent release, An Interactive Evening Suitable for Introverts is all about curiosity, connection, and creativity. The events were held on Sunday, March 30 in Tacoma in the Roosevelt Room of the Tacoma Armory with support by ACE (Accelerating Creative Enterprise) and Friday, April 4 in Seattle at the Fremont Abbey with support by Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Audiences enjoyed music, poetry - including typewriter poetry - and a creative workshop.
Artists and Performers included:
Musicians: myself, Karen Laura Peters, Johnston, Anja Claire
Poet & Typewriter Poetry: Shane Knode
Live Painting: Alicia Caruso, Carmen Leslie
Photography: Aaron Mills
Creative Workshop facilitator: Brian Lane
Our creative workshop was "Softcut" Block Printing: Build-A-Beast led by artist, Brian Lane. The Build-A-Beast project allows you to create and print an all-new animal. With approximately 40 pre-carved animals to choose from, participants mixed and matched body parts of animals to create an all-new beast. Additionally, participants carved animal blocks to contribute to the “field guide to real and imaginary animals of the northwest”.
